What can you do with Searchspeare?
Searchspeare brings translation, research and project management together. The editor is at the centre, with AI to help when a task gets repetitive. Here's what it can do.
Ask questions and edit your translations
Ask Searchspeare to explain a term, search the web or read the content of a pasted image. It can translate or edit the selected segments, including several at once, directly from the chat panel.
- Select the segments you want the assistant to work on.
- Review its proposed changes before accepting them.
Edit one segment or several at once
The segment toolbar sits directly below the segment you're editing, keeping commands close at hand. Select several segments to apply a command across the selection. Searchspeare Assistant can also edit several selected segments in one request.

Change a phrase without rewriting the segment
Sometimes only a few words need changing. Select them and ask for alternatives. Searchspeare takes the sentence into account, so the suggestions are for that context.

- Replace the phrase and keep the rest as it is.
Make a glossary from files or text
Use your own documents, material from others or text copied from a webpage. Extract terms from files, projects, translation memories or alignments, even when source and target text are mixed together.
- For monolingual file pairs, Searchspeare aligns the source and target before extracting the terms.
- Review the term pairs, make any changes and save the glossary.
Documents Alignment
Align several source and target document pairs at once, then turn the result into a translation memory. Use the alignment toolbar to edit and merge segments, with commands made specifically for alignment.

- Save the alignment to a translation memory or export it.
Accept only the changes you want from the AI
When the AI proposes edits, you can accept individual words or phrases in the changes preview. Apply only the suggestions you want and leave the others pending, or accept all changes at once.

Let Searchspeare help with the tags
Tag pairs have matching colours, and missing tags are easy to spot. Insert them from the toolbar or ask Searchspeare to fix them. This also works with several segments selected.

Open several search websites from the editor
Select a term and search for it on Linguee, IATE, EUR-Lex or other websites. Each website opens in your default browser, so you can use the browser you already know. Save websites in a search group to search several at once.

Work with files from other CAT tools
Open a bilingual file from memoQ or Trados and translate it in Searchspeare. When you're done, export it and reimport it into the original project.

Quality Assurance
QA lists the issues it finds and takes you to the affected segment. For rules with an automatic fix, you can fix one issue or all matching issues. You can also ignore an issue when it doesn't apply.

Is Searchspeare a desktop app?
Yes. The Windows desktop app is the main Searchspeare experience. Install it from Microsoft Store. A web version is also available if you want to explore the interface in your browser first.
Does Searchspeare work without AI?
Yes. Searchspeare is a complete CAT tool with a modern interface and the core translation features you expect from tools such as memoQ or Trados. You can use it without AI.
Are my files and translations kept private?
Yes. In local mode, your files, projects, translation memories and glossaries stay on your computer. Searchspeare does not store this local workspace content on its servers. If you use an online AI feature, the content needed for your request is sent to the selected provider. AI processing is governed by provider-specific data-protection terms and applicable privacy laws.

Can I use my own AI provider?
Yes. Bring Your Own Key is available in the Windows desktop app for supported providers. You can also use Searchspeare Assistant with AI credits.
Can I work with memoQ and Trados files?
Searchspeare supports MQXLIFF and SDLXLIFF bilingual workflows. Import the file, work on the translation, then export it for reimport into the original CAT tool.
